(left) died on October 14, 2010.
This photo was taken on April 29, 2006.
Prof. Mandelbrot had just delivered the AMS Einstein Public Lecture in Mathematics
at the Spring Western Sector Meeting of the American Mathematical Society
at San Francisco State University.
For the next couple of hours he entertained us while we were all enjoying our box lunches.
We all miss him.
